Dr. Ravikumar Bhalavat, one of our new members, will be having a Mental Health Screening Camp at his Howard County office on Saturday April 27th, 2019. They will be screening for common mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorder, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. Dr. Niharika Khanna and Dr. Arun Bhandari, one of our new members, recently attended the MD State Cancer Council Meeting last week in Annapolis. They were joined by Dr. Kevin Cullen who is the chair of the Maryland State Council on Cancer as well as the chair of board of directors of the American Cancer Society.
Dr. Khanna has also been nominated to become the next chair of the Maryland State Council on Cancer. This is a link with info about some of her work with the council.

YOGA Sessions for Fundraiser for the Maryland food Bank :
AAPIMD is proud to take participation in helping to raise fund for the Maryland Food Bank through YOGA sessions. These sessions will be conducted on line. One of our esteemed member Dr. Amit Bhargava who is a certified yoga teacher has agreed to take these sessions online. Registration and the YOGA sessions are free. These are not restricted to only AAPI MD members. We are requesting to please forward this information to your family, friends and other colleagues who are interested in learning and further their training of Patanjali YOGA. Please register in advance for these Zoom sessions.

We are proud to support the Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation!
On May 24th, 2020 this foundation is having their annual Sprint & 6k at the Westgate Montgomery shopping center in Bethesda. We have our own race team for the event and all are encouraged to participate! You can also participate with a donation if you are unable to attend the actual event.

Last year, our members, Drs. Pradeep Garg, Kirti Desai, and Daljeet Saluja supported the Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation this past weekend. by running in their Superhero 6K race. AAPI-MD collectively raised $451 for the the organization! Thank you to all who contributed and supported this noble endeavor.
This year, we are hoping to have even more support! Join us for the event this year on Sunday May 24, 2020.

DIPG, or Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, is a deadly type of brain tumor that primarily affects children. About 200-400 kids are diagnosed with it in the USA each year.
